UK Headline Tour
The Drums have announced a full nationwide tour after the release of their new album 'Portamento'.
The shows are scheduled to run across November and December. A comprehensive tour consisting of shows in Birmingham, Newcastle, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cambridge and more before finishing in Manchester on 10th December.
Jonathan first met Jacob at a summer camp when they were children and have ever since been best friends. Soon after their first meeting they formed the electro-pop group Goat Explosion which they toured with in North America.
As the years went by, the two friends went different directions. In 2003 Jonathan formed Indie rock group Elkland which quickly gained attention and was signed by Columbia Records.Meanwhile Jacob formed Horse Shoes which was signed by Shelflife Records.
The two friends had since long planned to start a new band together. They had both grown tired of electronic music and decided to switch from synthesizers to guitars. The band was formed in late 2008 and as a result of their arrival in New York, two additional members joined the band. The former Elkland guitarist Adam Kessler and the drummer from around, Connor Hanwick.
Their major influences are; The Smiths, Joy Division, The Wake, The Zombies, The Tough Alliance, The Legends, The Shangri-las and Orange Juice. Jacob also mentioned that reverb in general has played a major role in their sound. "...If reverb didn´t exist we wouldn´t have bothered trying to start a band."
