Tijs Michiel Verwest is better known by his stage name Tiesto. He started out DJing professionally at school parties, and then moved on to become a resident DJ from 1985 to 1993 at several clubs in The Netherlands. It was at a club called 'The Spock' where things really took off for Tiësto; he stopped producing hardcore/gabber tracks and started to produce his own sound from 10pm until 4am on weekends. In the mid 1990s, Tiësto started to produce trance and the rest, as they say, is history.

Tiësto is a man of 'firsts'. He was the first DJ to sell out dates at Brixton Academy (two nights in a row), Alexandra Palace, the O2 Arena, and last summer he was the first DJ to headline and sell-out a truly wondrous show at Victoria Park, London to 25,000 fans. He is the only DJ ever to sell out a three-month residency at Privilege in Ibiza last summer, where he played to over 100,000 people and now Tiësto is back in the UK, to perform a series of very special arena shows across England and Wales.
